24th July, 2016 – Los Angeles – US: A Los Angeles Superior Court jury awarded $1.75 million on July 15 to two siblings who alleged UCLA doctors committed medical malpractice that resulted in the death of their mother.

24th July, 2016 – Michigan – US: More than 10 years after a Goshen man became paralyzed from the waist down from an undiagnosed infection, a local court has ordered him and his wife to receive more than $4 million in compensation.

16th July, 2016 – Belize City: Belizeans can be tolerant and forgiving in so many areas of life that many times professionals, who should know better, take advantage, but one woman who has been through pain and suffering because of two botched surgical procedures decided that the best route of redress to follow was through a medical malpractice lawsuit, an unusual area of civil claim in Belizean litigation.

15th July, 2016 – US: A federal appeals court has upheld a lower court ruling that an XL Group P.L.C. unit was not obligated to defend nor indemnify a medical malpractice insurer under an errors & omissions clause in its reinsurance policy in a case involving the med mal insurer's refusal to settle litigation.

15th July, 2016 – Michigan – US: Patients who filed medical malpractice claims against Detroit-area oncologist Farid Fata and three Michigan hospitals will receive settlements totaling $8 million.The settlements were approved July 20 in Oakland County Circuit Court. They will be distributed by an arbitrator later this year to about 40 people.

15th July, 2016 – London – UK: A doctor who sexually assaulted patients and secretly filmed them on hidden cameras has been jailed for four and a half years.

The creepy chiropractor used a concealed camera to film his patients undressing in the changing room of his practice.

12th July, 2016 – China: Like most people, Chen Zhongwei knew his killer, though not terribly well. The 60-year-old retired dentist had treated him 25 years previously in China’s southern city of Guangzhou. The patient, who had a history of mental illness, became enraged when, all those years later, his teeth began to discolor. Chen was found in his home riddled with stab wounds. The patient killed himself by jumping from Chen’s balcony immediately after the attack.

11th July, 2016 – US: A Lake County jury has awarded an 84-year-old woman $1.67 million in damages from a Waukegan hospital for a botched knee replacement surgery in October 2009.

9th July, 2016 – US: Seven hundred deaths a day from medical mistakes. New research shows that's how many Americans are dying due to medical errors.  The I-Team looked into malpractice deaths in Wisconsin and talked to victims who say state laws make it nearly impossible to right the wrongdoing.

8th July, 2016 – Mercer, Atlanta – US: Leigh A. Isaacs initiated the action in response to the death of her husband, Harold D. Isaacs Jr. of New Wilmington, who died at age 41 on June 21, 2013.

A notice of intent to sue was filed June 19, 2015, in Mercer County Common Pleas Court against Dr. Joseph J. Wizorek, UPMC Horizon in Greenville and University of Pittsburgh Physicians, but the parties reached the settlement in May without a formal complaint being filed.
