Wilkes-Barre, US – 31st January, 2018: A Bethlehem man shot in the neck in Hanover Township last year has sued the hospital system that treated him, alleging negligence.

Norman Lynch was shot in the neck early Feb. 28, records show, and was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.

Fiji – 30th January, 2018: The High Court in Suva yesterday awarded a 60-year-old Nasinu man $10,000 in damages after he won a lawsuit due to negligence by a doctor who had examined him when he was admitted for testicular swelling.

The plaintiff Jai Narayan was further awarded an additional $2500 as costs summarily assessed by the court.

Trinidad & Tobago – 30th January, 2018: A private medical institution is seeking to have the surgeon, who operated on the husband of former finance minister Karen Nunez-Tesheira, pay a percentage of the $18 million medical negligence judgment over his death.

Lawyers representing Gulf View Medical Centre yesterday presented submissions in its appeal over the decision of High Court Judge Frank Seepersad to dismiss its case against urologist Dr Lester Goetz in November, last year.

Singapore – 16th January, 2018: The widow of an IT specialist who died from skin cancer in 2013 is seeking damages of at least $10.4 million from a medical laboratory and a pathologist.

Housewife Carol Ann Armstrong, 52, alleged that Quest Laboratories and its medical director, Dr Tan Hong Wui, were negligent for failing to detect a malignant cancer in a skin sample taken from her husband Peter Traynor in 2009.

Michigan, US – 16th February, 2018: When Bimla Nayyar dislocated her jaw in January 2012, her family took her to a Dearborn, Michigan, hospital for what was supposed to be a routine surgery. But things went horribly awry after doctors wheeled the 81-year-old grandmother into the operating room.

 

London, UK – 23rd February, 2018: Parents of a three-year-old Indian-origin boy, who died in a UK hospital a few years ago, told an inquest into his death today that they feel "really let down" by the medical staff that was treating their son. Krishan Saujani died at Leicester Royal Infirmary in the city of Leicester in November 2015 after being taken to the hospital for vomiting and diarrhoea.

Brisbane, Australia – 14th February, 2018: The young mother of three lodged a $1 million medical negligence claim in the Supreme Court in Brisbane against three doctors as well as the Redcliffe Hospital, north of Brisbane.

Ms Elisara, 36, said she noticed rectal bleeding, low iron levels and had extreme pain when passing stools, but her doctor told her it was hemorrhoids.

Brisbane, Australia – 14th February, 2018: Kelly Smith has lodged a claim for $1.2 million in damages in the Supreme Court in Brisbane for medical negligence.

The 34-year-old went to the Emergency Department in February 2015 after she fell out of bed and injured her left leg.
