Leicester, UK – 8th February, 2017: The husband of a woman who died from a blood clot 16 days after the birth of her daughter has won a medical negligence claim against Leicester's hospitals.

Darren Taylor, who lives in Braunstone, has won compensation from the hospital trust. The amount has not been disclosed.

Watford, UK – 26th February, 2017: The NHS worker, who has remained anonymous, has been awarded a five-figure compensation payment over the botched operation. As part of her operation to fit a gastric band for weight loss in 1994, she was fitted with two surgical drains to remove fluid.

However, only one was removed, meaning half a foot of corrugated plastic was sewn back up inside her.

New Barnet, UK – 23rd February, 2017: John Evans, 53, nearly died and lost about six pints of blood following the surgery in 2012 to repair a crack at the base of his skull.

He received a sum of £37,500, including £9,508 for private medical fees, which he intends to use for counselling to help rebuild his life – because the operation also left him with severe depression and anxiety, as well as sleeping problems and persistent mood swings which have affected his work and family life.

A father-of-three whose wife died after seven different medics misdiagnosed her blood clot as cramp has received a six-figure payout from the NHS.

Alison Taylor, 29, was told she could not have an ultrasound at a hospital, which would have saved her life, because it was a weekend. The nurse feared she was suffering from deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after the birth of her daughter Yvie-Mae on March 15, 2010.
