IML has initiated this unique exercise to draft, update, and adopt a ‘SOP on Patients Consent’. This initiative is the first of its kind, not only in India, but in the world whereby an SOP on patients consent is collectively and voluntarily drafted by a large number of participants that includes prominent medical associations, doctors, and editors of medical journals. The SOP intends to clear legal uncertainties on various aspects of consent.

The SOP is available on the website ‘www.patientsconsent.com’, absolutely free, and can be referred to in case of doubts, and if required, can also be produced in court. This exercise is not influenced, sponsored or financed, directly or indirectly, by any person, association, commercial organization, pharmaceutical company or medical device manufacturer.
